Project Director

DEPARTMENT: AmeriCorps Seniors Programs – FGP and SCP
REPORTS TO: Rock Valley Rotary Club Foundation Board Members
WORKERS SUPERVISED: 2 FTE staff and up to 80 volunteers

I. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
       A. Responsibilities

  1. The Director will oversee staff in the Rock Valley office.
  2. The Director plans and conducts a continuous program of public relations in
    Sioux, Lyon, O’Brien, Plymouth, Dickinson, Woodbury, Monona, and Osceola
    counties. The Director must be responsible for editing newsletters, brochures, and
    news releases; to pursue and fulfill speaking engagements; and to assure dynamic
    and ongoing public relations with the business community and general public.
  3. The Director is responsible for seeing that the program is run in accordance with
    stated policies and procedures and to meet the goals and objectives of the Foster
    Grandparent Program and the Senior Companion Program as set forth by the
    AmeriCorps Seniors aka CNCS (Corporation for National Community Service).
  4. The Director prepares and issues reports to accommodate the administration and
    program needs specified by the sponsor, state, regional and federal personnel.
    The Director also provides quarterly reports to the Sponsoring Agency.
  5. The Director writes and oversee all grants, and is responsible for all fiscal/grants
    management and budgetary responsibilities.
  6. The Director applies sound fiscal procedures, authorizes expenditures, and
    approves the maintenance of the bookkeeping system
  7. The Director develops and maintains, with the assistance of the program staff, the
    financial, personnel, program and volunteer records.
  8. The Director works with the Sponsoring Agency in raising the necessary match
    fund to meet the financial obligation of the Grant.
  9. The Director assists as needed with all orientation and training programs which are presented to the volunteers prior to their involvement with the volunteer station as continuing in-service each month.
  10. The Director is responsible for locating, interviewing, and selecting volunteers for admission to the program and also hiring, writing job descriptions, monitoring, and training needed staff.
  11. The Director is responsible for counseling and listening to volunteers with empathy for their needs.
  12. The Director must coordinate and provide for the transportation needs of the Foster Grandparents and the Senior Companions, meals on a daily basis, and provide program supplies when needed.
  13. The Director develops Memorandum of Understandings and other appropriate documents with volunteer stations. He/she plans and coordinates program activities and Foster Grandparent/Senior Companion assignments with appropriate volunteer station staff.
  14. The Director annually evaluates the effectiveness of operational procedures, project activities, and Foster Grandparent/Senior Companion work quality.
  15. The Director provides staff assistance to the Foster Grandparent/Senior Companion Advisory Board, Sponsoring Agency and consults board members on significant plans, actions, changes and problems affecting the project.
  16. The Director attends all AmeriCorps Seniors training programs and other appropriate conferences on aging and volunteerism.

 

II. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
             BA/BS in related Human Services field and a minimum of two years management experience.


III. SALARY
        Negotiable


IV. HOURS
        Monday-Friday full time


V. Must work out of the Rock Valley office.

Volunteer Coordinator

Tasks:

  • Match Senior Citizen Volunteers over 55yrs old to clients in their community for friendship, activities, and possible transportation.
  • Interview potential new volunteers and recruit within our 9 county service area
  • Work alongside the Program Director and Foster Grandparent Volunteer Coordinator in unity to promote a strong team atmosphere
  • Maintain volunteer files confidentially and securely
  • Process monthly volunteer time sheets for the Director to pay out volunteer stipends and reimbursements
